Why most Reddit downloads have no sound
Reddit hosts videos on v.redd.it as separate video and audio streams. The Reddit player fetches both and plays them in sync, but most downloader tools (and the browser’s built-in "Save video as" right-click) only grab the video stream — that’s why your download is silent.

Quality up to what Reddit serves
Reddit caps video quality at 1080p for most posts. Some subreddits and verified accounts get higher bitrates. Whatever Reddit makes available on the post page, you’ll see in the quality picker — no upscaling, no fake higher resolutions.
